A clinical psychologist is a psychologist who has undertaken highly specialised APAC-accredited training in the assessment, diagnosis, formulation, and psychological treatment of mental health disorders across the lifespan. The education and training of clinical psychologists takes eight years.
Clinical psychologists can assess and diagnose mental health conditions.
NDIS Diagnosis and Psychology Services:
A clinical psychologist cannot prescribe medication. If you would like pharmacological management for your symptoms, you must seek care from a medical doctor.
Furthermore, symptoms of mental health disorders can have organic causes, therefore medical review is also recommended.
